The artwork:
This modern version of a public telescope won't show you the Eiffel tower, or some nice panorama, it is aimed at a more internal and personal journey. Indeed, when you are looking inside the eyepiece with your right eye, you will be watching your left eye. You are now in what I call a Narcissus Loop.
Inside your left eye, you should be able to see, by reflection, a ring that changes colors over time, this is the loop inside the loop...
How does it feel to be looking into your other eye ?
Well, now you know :)
Will you be able to brake the loop ?
You'd better, as there is no happy ending for those who can't skip the void of their narcissism.
Technical details
Built in Acrylic (PMMA/Altuglas), this project uses a HD camera, which is linked to a field monitor. Both are controlled by a computer in order to handle startup and standby functions.
There are also 370 computer controlled LEDs inside this artwork :
- 290 LEDs for the base,
- 64 LEDs lightning the top of the box,
- 16 LEDs as a ring right in front of the left eye (the one being watched).
