The artwork:
The "CycLotron à Plasma" (alias CLAP) or Plasma-based Cyclotron in english, is a co-creation with ceramic artist Maud Valentin.
The ceramic hosts the cyclotron, however a material is wrapped with leather ties around it so that the energy (ion beam) coming from the cyclotron doesn't hit your eyes directly.
Instead you will see a colorful ray of light, a rotating plasma which generates so much energy that this otherwise opaque material now becomes translucid.
Based on new extraterrestrial technology (as you know, I have ties with them), the plasma inside the cyclotron uses the concept of Radionics to make your health and your life better.
Looking at this unique CLAP device 3 minutes everyday should probably make you a better human being.
In order to activate the Cyclotron, you need to press a foot switch that will activate the plasma for 30 minutes before going idle.
Technical details
Built in bamboo, copper, ceramic, leather and Acrylic (PMMA/Altuglas), this project mixes many different techniques.
The Acrylic sheet has been wrapped around the ceramic using manual thermoforming (as in my previous MAB artwork).
It is a very special type of PMMA, that looks opaque and black while in fact being translucent.
The foot switch is connected to the single board computer that is controlling the 64 LEDs panel and generating the plasma effect.
