Started 4 months ago, we now have a working version of Smile, an interactive sculpture that includes 40 modified 8" intel tablets, a big iron sculpture (1.85m tall). It is also a bit on the heavy side... with around 150 kg. The 3D software (using WebGL) is now finished. It includes a realtime synchronization of all the tablets, like in a computing cluster, in order for all the tablets to render the same 3D scene, but seen from different angles. We also have a smile detection software, based on OpenCV 3.x and various other pieces of software in order to monitor the whole thing and to control the temperature inside the base of the sculpture (where we "hide" all the electronics/computers).
